Who Does the Work
We work on garage doors and openers, and that's the whole of it. No side businesses, no subcontracted crews showing up in a truck that doesn't match what you called. When you request a quote, the person who looks at your door is the person who can tell you, on the spot, whether it's a spring, a cable, a bent track, or an opener board that's gone bad.
We don't pad a page with a founding date or a headcount because neither one tells you anything about your door. What matters is whether we can see the model plate, the spring wind, and how the panels are sitting in the track. A lot of Mentor homes still have the original hardware from when the house was built, and torsion springs, drums, and cable gauges have changed enough over the decades that guessing the wrong part from a phone description wastes everyone's time. That's why an accurate quote depends on either a photo of the door fully closed and fully open, or a visit, not on how long we've been doing this.

Mentor's housing stock runs mostly 1938 to 1991, with most of it going up in the 1960s and 70s. That means a lot of the calls we take are for original torsion springs that have outlived their wind cycles, steel tracks that have loosened at the jamb brackets over fifty-plus years of settling, and openers that were swapped once in the 90s and are now on their second or third dead capacitor.

We cannot price a full panel replacement, a broken spring on a double door, or anything opener-related without seeing the unit, because the part numbers and drum sizes vary too much to guess.

Before You Ask for a Quote
Can you give me a price over the phone?
For rollers, cables, and basic tune-ups, often yes, if you can give us the door's dimensions. For a broken spring on a double door, a bent panel, or opener trouble, we need to see it, the part costs and labor swing too much based on drum size and hardware age to quote blind.
What should I have ready when I call?
Your address, the door's approximate age or the brand if you know it, and a description of what it's doing, won't open, makes a loud bang, sags on one side. A photo of the door fully open and fully closed helps us narrow it down before we even get in the truck.
Do you work outside Mentor itself?
